What is Somatics?
Somatics is a gentle movement practice that helps the body release long-held muscle tension and improve the way we move. By using slow, comfortable movements, participants can retrain the brain and muscles to work together more efficiently, helping to reduce stiffness and increase ease of movement.
Many older adults find Somatics beneficial for improving balance, posture and flexibility, while also helping to relieve everyday aches and pains.
Benefits of Somatics
Participants may experience benefits such as:
- Improved mobility and flexibility
- Reduced muscle tension and stiffness
- Better balance and coordination
- Improved posture
- Greater ease in everyday activities
- Increased body awareness and relaxation
- Enhanced confidence in movement
The classes are gentle, welcoming and suitable for beginners, with no previous experience required.
