A Golden Start: Moate Pickleball Club Excels in First Tournament

In an exciting showcase of talent and teamwork, Moate Pickleball Club has made a significant mark by winning gold in Division 3 of the team tournament held at the renowned Multyfarnham Pickleball Club on Sunday. This well-established club has long been a beacon of pickleball excellence, making it a fitting venue for Moate’s first tournament just ten months after the club’s inception.

The tournament was hosted by the esteemed Colin Sheridan Academy, known for its commitment to fostering pickleball skills and sportsmanship. The Moate club team, composed of eight talented players—Keith, Ciaran, Aiman, Salman, Aideen, Karen, Alex, and Catherine—competed fiercely. Their dedication and hard work paid off as they battled through challenging matches, ultimately bringing home the coveted gold medal.

From the outset, the club has grown from strength to strength, nurturing a vibrant community around this dynamic sport. Winning this tournament not only marks a significant achievement for the players but also places Moate firmly on the map as a budding hub for pickleball enthusiasts.

The club extends its heartfelt gratitude to Westmeath Community Development, Westmeath Sports Partnership, and Pickleball Ireland for their invaluable support. Special thanks also go to Cassandra Mooney, who expertly coached their very first session, and to local racket sport legend Jimmy Raleigh, whose vision and enthusiasm were instrumental in the establishment of the club.

With this victory under their belts, the club is eager to participate in further tournaments, compete at a national level, and build on their success while continuing to promote the sport within the community. The future looks bright for Moate Pickleball Club, and everyone is excited to see what comes next!
