Moate Pickleball Club Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Tournament Next Week

Moate Sports & Recreation Centre will host the 2nd Anniversary Pickleball Tournament next week, welcoming 72 participants for a full day of competitive and social pickleball.

The tournament will take place on Saturday, 31st January, with matches beginning promptly at 10:00am at Moate Sports & Recreation Centre (N37 KW60). This event marks the club’s second year in operation, reflecting rapid growth and a growing appetite for organised pickleball in the region.

Tournament Format

The tournament will feature two divisions – Silver and Gold, running concurrently across four courts. Each team will play four round-robin matches, followed by a lunch break and knockout stages.

Matches will be played in 20-minute blocks, with 18 minutes of timed play, ensuring all games remain synchronised throughout the day. This format allows the tournament to run efficiently while still delivering fast-paced, competitive matches.

Where teams finish level on wins, final placings will be determined by points scored and points conceded, ensuring a fair and transparent ranking system.

Awards & Prizes

Trophies will be presented to first-place finishers in each division.
In addition, engraved medals featuring the Moate Pickleball Club logo will be awarded to all players reaching the semi-final stage and above, recognising achievement and performance in the knockout rounds.

Food & Facilities

Food on the day will be provided by Annette from The Pantry in Moate, ensuring players are well fuelled throughout the tournament. Supporting local suppliers remains an important part of events hosted at the centre.

Growing Pickleball in Moate

Moate Pickleball Club has now grown to 95 members, and plans are in place to double membership over the coming year. The club’s long-term aim is to allow pickleball to take place every day of the week, creating more opportunities for play across all levels.

Newcomers are always welcome, and anyone interested in trying pickleball is encouraged to come along to the tournament, watch the action, and chat to players and organisers to see what the sport is all about.

Moate Sports & Recreation Centre looks forward to welcoming players, supporters, and anyone curious about pickleball for what promises to be an enjoyable, celebratory, and well-run day.
